I know many of you may be wondering what is going on with Nopalito Blossoms. Well, I have closed the store and am in the process of dissolving my little company.
My husband Steve has accepted a great opportunity as Aviation Supervisor in Papua New Guinea.
With this blog I hope to engage with you and let you see what life is like in of Papua New Guinea. I have never been to that part of the world and quite frankly, I had to look up where it was (an island just north of Australia). I also found out that it is a step back in time and so I do believe it will be an adventure!
I won't be making soap (at least not to sell) and you won't need to purchase anything, you just get to know a little about what I am doing, if you're interested.
You will also be able to connect with me via e-mail on the website.
As I write this Steve has received his work permit but we are still waiting for our visas, so we are still here in our home.
Our health physicals for entry into Papua New Guinea are complete and required vaccinations have been administered.
We listed our house in early December and much to our surprise we had multiple offers. One week later we accepted an offer and the house went under contract.
We are very fortunate in that the buyers are not in a hurry to move in and have agreed to closing when we receive our visas.
We have sorted through a lot of our stuff, it's amazing how much one can accumulate!
A lot has been thrown out (I ordered two more large garbage cans!) Much has been donated, including most of my fabric stash, some from my mother and my grandmother. Our daughter Erin took some pieces and I kept some pieces that I hope to complete, (wink, wink, hope being the operative word). Denton Quilt Guild was happy to receive more than 100 yards of usable fabric and a huge box basket weaving reed and handles.
My friends (Thank you Lea, Terry Lynn, Mary B!) have taken all my plants, trees, pots, bricks, rocks, dirt etc... and this past week I graduated as a Denton County Master Gardner. Thankfully I completed my required volunteer hours before we knew we were moving, whew!! Not sure this will help me grow things better but can't hurt right?!
One vehicle has been sold, one vehicle and trailer promised and one more vehicle to go. One Stearman Bi-plane is still for sale, much interest, no takers yet. If it doesn't sell then it will have to be, as Steve puts it, "Pickled", and soon, then placed in storage.
We hope to be en route by the end of this month or early February but we are not sure.
So for now we are still in a holding pattern and I will keep you updated.
