The Doldrums

It is early February 2021, and we are still in Texas.
Although I have never been on a transoceanic voyage, I have read about the "doldrums". An area of the ocean near the equator where light or shifting winds make it difficult to make headway on a voyage. That is what it feels like right now. Every day is a day of hope that those visas will show up but at the end of the day, when it doesn't happen, you find yourself right where you started the day.
The good news is, the plane has been sold and the hangar has been cleared out of all our possessions. It was a bit sad this weekend when we covered N1420M (the Stearman numbers) for the last time. It is when you realize you won't be flying this particular aircraft again and then you cry just a little bit.
For those of you who know me, you know I love to be up in the air. My husband is an accomplished helicopter and fixed wing (airplane) pilot and I have soloed in a little Cessna 172. I am definitely not accomplished, but am capable of watching for and calling out air traffic and navigating.
We have owned three different aircraft over our 38 years of marriage and we have had a great time in all of them, so being without an airplane will be strange and I know I will literally miss "being up in the air".
Hoping those visas come in soon.
